DISPLACEMENTS –INTERNATIONAL CERAMIC ART MUSEUM GRIMMERHUS 2012
A displacement is processual and involves changing existing conditions, whether physical,
mental, or social. Displacements can result in physical relocation, mental openings, or other
approaches to problem solving or, for example, new relations. Displacements, however, can
also result in clashes, conflicts, distancing and massive catastrophes. Displacements result
in new situations. They can concern and move us as human beings. That is the part of the
term being examined at The Museum of International Ceramic Art, Grimmerhus. I approach
the term ‘displacement’ as a physical act meant to achieve new tensions, energies, relations,
spatialities, and approaches to spaces as ceramic spaces.
